Saskatchewan sets target date for third re-opening phase

Saskatchewan has set a goal of June 8th for the third phase of re-opening.

In the third phase, restaurants and licensed establishments will be able to re-open at 50 per cent capacity.  Other businesses will be green-lit to begin operations as well, including:

  • Estheticians
  • Tattoo artists
  • Make-up applicators
  • Electrologists
  • Manicurists
  • Pedicurists
  • Sun tanning parlours
  • Facilities in which body piercing, bone grafting or scarification services are provided
Gyms, childcare services and religious gatherings can resume under phase three as well.

Guidelines for COVID-19 prevention are being developed by the Saskatchewan Health Authority, some of which will be announced Friday. Consultation with faith leaders is ongoing to best determine a course of action for re-opening these facilities.

The restrictions on gathering sizes will also ease to fifteen people indoors and thirty people at outdoor events. These restrictions will be further eased when the province determines a date for stage four.

Businesses re-opening will need to follow health and safety rules under the public health order, including enhanced cleaning and physical distancing protocols.
