Battlefords Provincial Park getting Saskatchewan stimulus funding

Upgrades are coming to Battlefords Provincial Park, along with several others around Saskatchewan.

The Government announced Tuesday that $10.3 Million will be given out in stimulus funding to provincial parks, as part of a multi-billion dollar approach to re-build the Saskatchewan economy post-COVID-19.

Among the upgrades is work at Battlefords Provincial Park, which Saskatchewan Infrastructure and Capital Planning Executive Director Byron Davis says will make the campground more visitor-friendly.

“Included in that will be the development of some accessible picnic sites and some campsite developments. We’re wanting to improve our campsites and picnic areas to make them more accessible to folks that may have limited mobility.”

In addition to making accessibility improvements for Battlefords Provincial Park, the funding will go towards several upgrades to infrastructure. Davis says this includes continuations to existing projects.

“There’s some water systems upgrades just being completed at [Battlefords Provincial Park] now, and wastewater treatment will take place later this year. We also have some planned electrical service expansion in the campgrounds at Battlefords.”

The funding from the government will be dispersed over the next two years.
