Wainwright re-opening some rec facilities

The Town of Wainwright has plans to re-open some of their recreation facilities Monday.

Starting June 1st, sports areas like the basketball and tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball diamonds and outdoor fitness equipment will all be open again for casual use. The skate park, playgrounds and open green spaces, like the dog park and the walking trail system, will also be available again.

These areas were closed as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19, and the town says that despite these areas being re-opened, they are usable at residents’ own risk.  People are advised to bring hand sanitizer, avoid touching their face with unclean hands, stay at least two meters away from other users and follow mass gathering restrictions. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms is told not to use the equipment.

Outdoor fitness classes are also allowed again from 7AM to 9 PM, provided they follow these COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. Fitness equipment must be small, and sanitized after each use. Organizers must also have a valid Wainwright business license if they’re going to charge for the classes.

Anyone looking for more information is asked to get in touch with the Town offices.
