RCMP reminding people to follow a 9 PM routine

Police are reminding residents to lock up their valuables before heading to bed.

For the entire month of June, the RCMP detachments around the country will be taking part in the #9PMRoutine, including here in Alberta. The initiative is a nightly reminder all through the month of June to make sure residents’ homes, vehicles and outbuildings are locked up, in an effort to reduce property crimes.

The RCMP in Alberta is doing the updates at 9 PM to keep in pattern with other police departments, but it serves more as a reminder to lock it up before packing in for the night. People will be getting reminders to lock up tools, makes sure windows in cars are rolled and the doors are locked, and that bicycles are put away.

These tips and reminders can be obtained by following the RCMP on Twitter and Facebook.
