Saskatchewan’s Temporary Wage Supplement Program is getting extended to include more workers.
The program provides a $400 wage top-up for each four week period retroactive to March 15th. It was already open for frontline workers within the long term care system, but it has now be extended for all workers in at any income level working at a licensed public or private long-term care facilities.
Workers in assisted care facilities can also access the funding, provided they meet criteria. If they earned a wage less than $24.00 per hour in the four-week period for which the worker has applied for the supplement, they are eligible. These workers’ total gross earnings must also be less than $2,500 including earnings from work outside an eligible essential care facility.
The wage supplement will be provided to full-time, part-time and casual workers, and includes anyone employed by an eligible facility. It does not include third-party contract service providers working at those facilities, however.
Private daycare and approved private service home employees also can apply for the funding. People interested in the funding process can visit the Government of Saskatchewan website.
