City Hall warns public to stay away from ice-covered ponds

City Hall is warning the public to stay away from retention lakes that appear to be frozen.

The city says that the thickness of ice on retention lakes and other bodies of water changes with fluctuations in the weather, and that residents should obey the warning signs posted along the shores of lakes and ponds. The city also encourages residents to keep an eye on their children near any body of water, to make sure they stay safe.

The city says that none of their outdoor skating rinks are currently open, but they will let the public know when they are available. Rinks are located at Bud Miller All Seasons Park, Queen Elizabeth School, the Lloydminster Outdoor Pool, the Servus Sports Centre Outdoor Oval, Bishop Lloyd Middle School, Winston Churchill Elementary School, Jack Kemp Community School, and E.S. Laird Middle School.
