Search crews recover body of missing man from Battle River

Maidstone RCMP have recovered the body of an 18-year-old man who went missing on the Battle River on Saturday (July 4).

RCMP say the Lashburn man and his friends were out tubing when a storm rolled in and separated them. Mounties were called to the river, south of Waseca, at 8:30 p.m.

The RCMP was assisted by several other detachments as well as Lloydminster Search and Rescue, Maidstone Fire and Midwest Victim Services. They say hundreds of local residents also helped in the search via planes, quads, boats and search teams.

After two days and a night of searching, the deceased man was found.

Maidstone RCMP say their thoughts are with the family at this time and is reminding everyone to be safe while on the water and wear proper safety devices.
