Saskatchewan releases more guidelines for large scale events

The Saskatchewan Government has released more guidelines under the fourth phase of its re-opening plan.

The province announced rules for banquets, conferences, temporary food vendors and sporting events like rodeo or racetracks.

These guidelines largely revolve around current guidelines like handwashing, enhanced cleaning measures and physical distancing. Rodeos and racetracks will be allowed to have up to 150 attendees, provided physical distancing can be maintained. This only applies to outdoor events or indoor events in a stadium large enough to hold 150 people while keeping distance, not including staff, volunteers, participants or contestants.

New rules are also in place for temporary food vendors and banquets at these events. No buffets or self serve options are allowed, and common touch items like self-serve beverages (including mix and ice), napkins, utensils and condiments are not permitted. Hosts must also make sure the number of attendees is less than the limit in public health order and people are physically distancing.

Live music events can also resume on July 16th, however, instruments or microphones can’t be shared, mics must be cleaned after every use, and greater distances used depending on the activity and instruments involved. Dance floors and karaoke are not permitted at this time.

Visitors to Saskatchewan parks and beaches are also reminded to bring their own hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes, respect restrictions and rules, and stay home if they are not feeling well.

Updated versions of the Saskatchewan Re-open plan can be found on the Government’s website.
