Interprovincial health MOU signed in Lloydminster

Citizens of Lloydminster will now have seamless access to healthcare. Representatives of the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan met in the Border City to sign a “memorandum of understanding” – a document that will coordinate the healthcare systems of the two provinces to provide Lloydminster with seamless coverage. MLA Richard Starke, Minister of Rural Health for Saskatchewan Tim McMillan, Minister of Health for Alberta Fred Horne, and Mayor Rob Saunders were on hand at the event. Saunders says having the support of the two provinces is very encouraging. In addition to the memorandum, the two provinces are also investing more than 1 million dollars for a third operating room at the Lloydminster Hospital, 750 thousand a year for a home care program, and 1.1 million to further develop the Prairie North Health Centre.
