Lloydminster Legacy Centre plans reopening with tentative date

The Lloydminster Legacy Centre is planning for a September 1st reopening.

Administrator Carrie Pollard says many seniors hoping to get out of their homes and get active once again.

“A lot of them are ready to get out and do something and we’re hoping to have a nice and safe environment for them to come out to for a couple hours of the day.”

Staff have met with the City of Lloydminster for input on their reopening strategy. Safety precautions will be in place including sanitizing stations at the door and a sign-in sheet will be set-up for contact tracing purposes.

“Some of them are gung ho about it and some are apprehensive. I can’t see us having an issue with too many people in there at one time because seniors are high-risk and they know that.”

Some programs like dances and buffet suppers will not be returning, but they will be able to continue their exercise programs with physical distancing guidelines in place.

Visitors are reminded if they are feeling sick, they should not come to the Legacy Centre and should instead self-isolate and get tested.
