A new Lloydminster crime reduction initiative has lead to the arrest of three people.
Over the past week, the Lloydminster RCMP has begun work on a program focused on dismantling street-level crime groups. The General Investigations Section conducted multiple targeted traffic stops, two of which lead to the seizure of a large quantity of cash, suspected narcotics and stolen property.
One of these stops, completed on 50th Avenue, resulted in the recovery of stolen property related to sixteen previous reports from residents of Lloydminster and the surrounding area.
As a result, Derica Miller, a 26-year-old from Sylvian Lake is facing 32 total charges, including multiple alleged theft-related offences and failing to comply with court orders. 29-year-old Zachary Frazer from Leduc County has been charged with 25 offences, including alleged property offences and weapon possession. Both are set to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on August 4th, 2020.Â
The other stop, which was on Highway 16 near 54th avenue, saw a man arrested and alleged cocaine seized from the vehicle, as well as over $65,000 in cash. 39-year-old Mohamud Siraji will appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court for alleged possession and trafficking charges on August 18th, 2020.
Lloydminster RCMP Inspector Lee Brachmann says the initiative is ongoing and will continue to hold people who would seek to victimize the city’s residents accountable.
