Yields are reported to be average, but some fields may yield less this year due to flooding during the summer.

Forty-eight per cent of lentils, 45 per cent of field peas, 16 per cent of barley, five per cent of oats, three per cent of spring wheat and two per cent of canola in the northwest region have been combined.

One hundred per cent of soybeans are standing and 23 per cent of flax are ready to straight-cut.

Rainfall in the area was minimal with the most precipitation was six millimetres falling in the Hafford, North Battleford, Barthel and Meadow Lake areas.

Cropland topsoil moisture is rated as two per cent surplus, 73 per cent adequate and 25 per cent short. Hay and pasture land topsoil moisture is rated as two per cent surplus, 61 per cent adequate, 30 per cent short and seven per cent very short.

Most crop damage came from strong winds that have blown swaths around and shelled out standing crops. Frost damage was reported in some areas and farmers are assessing the impact on immature crops.

Farmers will be combining, swathing and moving cattle and bales.
