Lloydminster hospital getting provincial financial support for upgrades

The Lloydminster Hospital and Home Care Health facilities are receiving some provincial funding for several healthcare maintenance upgrades.

The hospital will be switching over the pneumatic controls to digital and the motor and variable frequency drive of the HVAC system in the surgery room is expected to get an upgrade. The funding also includes the construction of a sterile storage space and improvements to the elevator and medical air compressor.

The Lloydminster Home Care facility will be getting a rooftop heating and cooling unit replacement.

“There’s always a need in healthcare and some of these projects have been put off for a while because of other priorities in our healthcare system here in Lloydminster,” MLA Colleen Young says. “It’s good to see that they’re receiving funding from the government as part of the capital plan that is helping to stimulate our economic recovery from the pandemic.”

“Working with two different provinces is always a challenge because of the budgets of two different provinces that contribute to the healthcare in our community. Governments have to make the decision of who’s paying for what here. I’m glad to see that Saskatchewan has stepped up and is helping to support some of these projects.”

The Saskatchewan government announced $200 million of the $7.5 billion two-year capital plan has been dedicated to health infrastructure. The investment will go towards shovel-ready projects.
