Lloydminster man arrested for armed robbery

Lloydminster RCMP has arrested a man for armed robbery.

On the morning of Tuesday, January 5th, RCMP received a 911 call from a local pharmacy, where an employee was held up at gunpoint. The employee reported a lone man entered the pharmacy, demanded narcotics, and produced a handgun.  The man took the narcotics and left. RCMP conducted extensive patrols and searched surrounding businesses. The man was located and arrested nearby and a BB-handgun was recovered.

65-year-old, George McLeod, of Lloydminster faces charges of armed robbery, two counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, and using a firearm in a commission of an offence. McLeod remains in custody until he is scheduled to appear in Alberta Provincial court Tuesday, January 12th.
