City looking to expand cemetery as part of long-term growth plan

The City is looking for the public’s feedback as they map out the plan for the cemetery.

Public feedback is being welcomed and will be used to guide the Cemetery Master Plan, aiming to make it usable for Lloydminster residents and families for the next 100 plus years. In addition to looking to create decades of extended use through a sustained, phased plan, it would also look at several expansions for the area.

These could include accommodating a wide range of interment and memorialization options, improved drainage as part of storm and groundwater mitigation, allow programs such as historic tours, Mothers Day and a Festival of Lights to go ahead there.

This could also mean improved services for families, including more gathering spaces, winter warming shelters, and better wayfinding, grave finding and historic interpretation information.

Due to COVID-19, people won’t be able to gather to provide feedback. Working around this, an online survey for residents and plot holders
will be available from November 12th to 26th, 2020.

Anyone unable to access the virtual engagement session or no email can contact the City of Lloydminster at 780-875-6184, Ext. 2322 to get involved.
