SHA brings in visitor limitations to North Battleford’s River Heights Lodge

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has brought in visitation limits at River Heights Lodge in North Battleford.

Effective immediately, visitations in-person will only be allowed for compassionate care reasons.

This is due to the SHA finding a positive COVID-19 associated to the long term care home.

While an outbreak has not been declared, they say they are monitoring the situation closely.

Visitors who will be allowed in are family or support persons for end-of-life care, or to assist long-term care residents whose quality of life or care needs are unmet.

Once a visitor is okayed to come in, they will need to undergo a health screening, with a temperature check and health questionnaire. They will then be required to sanitize and where a mask at all times, and extra personal protective equipment when necessary.

Family members or support persons will not be allowed to wait in common areas.

These limitations, the SHA explains, will be in place for the near future, until it is safe to return to previous levels of family presence.

In the meantime, residents are reminded to continue healthy habits, such as physical distancing, hand washing and sanitizing, wearing a mask where appropriate and staying home while sick.
