UPDATE: One man in custody after incident on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation

UPDATE: The RCMP says a man has been arrested after an “armed and barricaded situation” at a house on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation. The home in question was searched and no one else was there.  All RCMP officers and additional resources have cleared the scene, and officers say there is no risk to public safety. The investigation is ongoing.

Loon Lake RCMP says there is increased police presence On the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation as they deal with a potential armed and barricaded situation there.

Police responded to the situation at a home on the First Nation, and currently say it’s unknown how many individuals are involved. The area around the house has been blocked off, and more RCMP resources are on route to help in this investigation.

Residents are being advised to avoid the area, so that police can conduct a safe and thorough investigation. It has not been determined yet how long RCMP will be on the scene.

The RCMP says an update will come after an investigation has been completed.
