Visitor limitations in place at Lloydminster hospital

Visitation at the Lloydminster Hospital will be limited to compassionate reasons only starting December 4 at 8 a.m.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority says, due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in the area, family presences and visitation will be limited in order to keep everyone at the facility and care homes safe during this time.

Compassionate care may include, but are not limited to, family and support persons during end-of-life care, major surgery, intensive or critical care, maternal or pediatrics care, long-term care residents whose quality of life or care needs are unmet or those inpatients and outpatients with specific challenges.

Those who are entering the hospital for compassionate reasons must undergo a health screening before going in and must wear a medical grade mask while inside. The SHA says more personal protective equipment may be required as well. Family members and support people will not be allowed to wait in waiting rooms or other common areas during this time.

The SHA is urging residents to follow public health measures including maintaining a two metre physical distance between others and self-isolate if a person develops any symptoms. People can also call HealthLine 811 for COVID-19 or testing information.

The visitation limits will be reassessed in four weeks.

The North West 2 region which includes Lloydminster has 67 active cases at the time of writing.
