Vehicle stolen from Wainwright among recovered items during RCMP investigation

A vehicle believed to be stolen from Wainwright was among several items recovered during an RCMP stolen property investigation.

Cold Lake RCMP and the Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit began the investigation back on November 18th, working to recover a vehicle in the area, which they did that same day.

During this investigation, approximately $22,000.00 in additional stolen property was found, thought to be associated with a vehicle theft that had occurred in Wainwright on November 12th. Stolen property from the Rich Lake Fire Hall in rural Lac La Biche was found as well, and this break-in happened November 17th.

In connection to the Wainwright and Lac La Biche incidents, 24-year-old Wyatt James Will Whitford of Bonnyville was charged with two counts of stolen property over $5000. He was arrested December 10th and held for a bail hearing, after which he was released by a Justice of the Peace on a no cash release order with conditions. He will next appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on January 19, 2021.
