The Meadow Lake RCMP is investigating a shooting that left one man with serious injuries.
In the early hours of January 4th, a 29-year-old man was shot at while sitting in a parked vehicle with passengers on Cochin Avenue in Meadow Lake. The man was hit once, but the other two in the car were not hurt.
During the shooting, the car was driven off by the victim, hitting a power pole, heavily damaging it and lighting it on fire. It also required Meadow Lake Fire and EMS to assist.
The man is in hospital being treated for his injuries. The North Battleford Provincial General Investigation Section, North Battleford Forensic Identification Services, Meadow Lake General Investigation Section and Meadow Lake RCMP are all investigating the shooting together.
While it is ongoing, it’s believed the man was the target of the attack, it was not a random incident and the general public is not at risk.
