Border City Rotary Club bringing back Irish Pub Night with some changes

The Border City Rotary Club is bringing back their biggest fundraiser of the year and invite Lloydminster residents to celebrate Irish Pub Night at home.

After having to cancel the event last year at the start of the pandemic, Organizer Karla Furman says she’s excited but it’s also bittersweet bringing the event back.

“We’re still not able to meet in person. We would love to be able to do it but, at the same time, we still want everyone to be able to remember Irish Pub Night and the fun it brings to the community.”

This year’s event will be a drive-thru supper with the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association staff cooking up the meals and Rotary Club volunteers delivering the food to the drivers. Proceeds from the event will go back to the Border City Rotary Club to support different projects in the community.

“This is our only fundraiser at the moment and helps us provide those different supports to the community.”

Last year, Irish Pub Night was meant to support the Lloydminster Sexual Assault Services Teddy Bear project but was cancelled. Furman says they were able to adapt and started a new fundraiser and ensure they were supporting the project.

Irish Pub Night is scheduled for March 14th from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 a meal and can be bought online through Eventbrite or in-person at the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association.
