City closes all outdoor ice surfaces for another year

With winter hitting its end soon, the City has closed down its outdoor ice surfaces for another year.

Effective immediately, rinks at  Queen Elizabeth School, Kin-Kinette Park, the Husky Oval at Servus Sports Centre, Bishop Lloyd Middle School, Winston Churchill Elementary School,  Jack Kemp Community School, E.S. Laird Middle School and Robertson Park are all closed.

Outdoor skating at Bud Miller Lake is finished for this year as well.

With these surfaces closing, the City is also putting out a warning to stay clear of retention ponds or lakes. Ice is often unstable on these bodies of water and will continue to be so as it melts further.

Residents are asked to take caution around them as well, keeping pets and children especially further away from them.

Warning signs will be posted in these areas.
