Saskatchewan to enter phase two of easing restrictions on June 20th

Saskatchewan, including Lloydminster, will be taking the next step of easing restrictions on June 20th.

The province passed the 70 per cent threshold of people over 30 who have received their first COVID-19 vaccine. As such, residents will start seeing rules being lifted for businesses, several recreational facilities and home gatherings to a degree.

On that day, people can begin having private indoor gatherings of up to 15 people again. At public indoor gatherings or private and public outdoor gatherings, the limit is at 150 people.

When it comes to retail or personal care businesses, there will no longer be any limit on capacity, but these stores must maintain occupancy to allow for enough space for physical distancing. Closed event facilities, casinos, bingo halls, theatres, art galleries, libraries and recreational facilities will be allowed to re-open, to a 150 person capacity.

Restaurants and bars won’t have a table capacity anymore, but still must maintain two meters of space or a structural barrier. Dance floors and buffets will still be closed. Any other facilities that serve food must follow restaurant guidelines as well.

There’s no change from step one to two for gyms and fitness facilities, primary, secondary and post-secondary education and childcare, but all remaining restrictions on youth and adult sports will be lifted.

Long-term care and personal care home residents may have up to four visitors indoors and nine visitors outdoors after June 20th. Mandatory public mask rules will still remain in place on that day and for the time being afterwards.

Premier Scott Moe continued to call on all residents to get their first dose of vaccine, saying that when they pass the third threshold, 70 per cent of people over 18 getting a first vaccine dose, almost all COVID-19 restrictions can be lifted.

Phase One of COVID-19 restrictions being lifted has been set for May 30th, which will also see some easing of restrictions on gatherings, retail services, restaurants and sports facilities.
