City once again performing property tax assessment reinspections remotely

The City will be performing property tax reinspections in four neighbourhoods this year.

The four neighbourhoods needing the reinspections are Colonial Park, Larson Grove, Southridge and Steele Heights. Out of an abundance of COVID-19 caution, the City of Lloydminster’s Assessment Department staff will not be going door-to-door this year.

Instead, surveys will be sent out, and property owners can respond online, through mail or by phone. The surveys are sent out via Canada Post, with residents beginning to receive them as of June 1st.

Assessors are looking for lot and home size, construction quality, if a property has a finished basement, location, condition and age.

After getting the survey, people have sixty days to respond. If they don’t, they will not be able to file an assessment complaint the following year.

Assessment staff will also be around to take outdoor photographs of the property and may request an in-person inspection in the future. At any time they’re on a person’s property, they’ll wear appropriate identification and will respect physical distancing guidelines.

For more information regarding the reinspection, residents can email [email protected] or visit their online page on the City’s website.
