Journalist/filmmaker coming to Vic Juba

The Lloydminster branch of the Economic Education Association of Alberta is bringing in a world-renowned presenter for an upcoming event at the Vic Juba Community Theatre.

Journalist and documentarian, Jon Robson, and his wife, fellow filmmaker and author, Brigitte Pellerin, are doing a talk for the Association and attendees, entitled Magna Carta: Good Then, Good Now, about the Magna Carta and democracy.

“The goal of the Economic Education Association is to foster greater opportunity for economic education and constructive dialogue,” says co-organizer with the EEAA, Garth Rowswell.

Rowswell also explained since this is the first event, the organization is just hoping to break even; they’re using it as a trial run to see what the community reception is like and then they may do other events going forward.

“We’ll see. If we get a good turnout or good response to this, our goal in the future, starting next year is to bring in nationally-known people to debate about specific, current events or issues that are out there… say like presently, pipelines,” says Rowswell.

Tickets can be purchased through vicjubatheatre.ca for $20.00 each, or $10.00 each for youth, ages 18 and under. The event takes place Monday, February 29th at 7 p.m.
