Turtleford RCMP says two people have passed away in Turtle Lake drowning

The Turtleford RCMP says two people have passed away after an incident at Turtle Lake this weekend.

On July 3rd, around 6:45 PM, officers received reports of people in distress at Turtle Lake, off the shore near the Thunderchild First Nation.

Initial investigation revealed that a 51-year-old woman was swimming when she began to struggle. Another person, a 60-year-old man, went in the water to try and help but began to struggle swimming as well.

Others at the beach were able to bring the two ashore, but EMS personnel found that they had passed away on scene. The RCMP does not suspect foul play.
