City converting 18th Street and 52nd Ave to 3-way stop

The City of Lloydminster will be converting the 18th Street-52nd Avenue intersection to a three-way stop.

Through ongoing traffic reviews, the City says the change was determined as needing to be made so that the area can be safer for pedestrians and drivers alike.  Previously, the College Park area road only required westbound traffic to stop turning north or south onto 52 Avenue.

After the stop is put up, which is going to happen this Saturday, July 24th, the road will require a complete stop when approaching from all directions. During the conversion, people travelling through the area are asked to be extra cautious in the construction zones, obeying all signs, detours and barriers.

When it’s completed, drivers should pay attention to the new signage and pedestrians are reminded to keep their heads up, making eye contact with drivers and waiting until vehicles come to a complete stop before crossing the street.

The new stop should be completed by end of day on July 24th, weather permitting.
