Road work on 44 Street is closer to moving from the south to north side.

City crews are aiming to flip from work  on the south to the north side of Highway 16 by the week of Monday August 16. This as Summer rehab work on 44 Street in the Border City is getting to the midpoint.

The City hopes to wrap up Phase 1 Friday August 13, weather permitting. Officials say the concrete intersection is nearly complete, allowing crews to prepare to pave the remaining areas of the highway between 59 Avenue and 75 Avenue.

As Phase 2 kicks in, business access along Highway 16 south will be restricted from the highway for east and westbound motorists, allowing crews to get to work on several tasks at one time.

The City says its in conversation with the contractor regarding temporary business access at one traffic crossing along Highway 16.
