Battlefords RCMP arrest two after 14-year-old shot

The Battlefords RCMP says two suspects have been arrested after a 14-year-old was shot, injuring him minorly.

Around 10:45 on August 26th, the RCMP responded to a call about a loud argument followed by gunshots in the 900 block of 110th Street. When officers got to the scene, they did not find anyone, but they did find bullet holes through the front window of a house.

While the investigation went on, RCMP received a second call from a hospital that a 14-year-old had shown up with a gunshot wound to the chest, who RCMP determined was wounded in this incident.  He has been treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

The RCMP says this was allegedly an argument with neighbours that turned violent. Two suspects,  a 38-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, whose names have not been released, have been arrested.

Police allege this was not a random attack and both parties knew each other.

The investigation is ongoing with the help of the Municipal GIS and Gang Task Force Units.
