Lakeland College to reinstate mask policy in some areas, will be in place for at least ten days

In response to increasing COVID-19 cases in Lloydminster, Lakeland College is reinstating masking policies in some areas of the schools for at least a ten-day period.

Starting September 7th, the school will require all people using their classrooms, labs, hallways and the Learning Commons to wear at least a three-ply mask. The school says that it’s these areas in particular because they are highly trafficked without much opportunity for social distance.

The school says these new rules will be in place until at least September 17th, which is ten days from when most students will be starting their studies in the fall semester.

Lakeland also reiterates that vaccines are important to mitigate COVID-19, and as such, Alberta and Saskatchewan health authorities are offering clinics on the respective campuses.

There will be one from 10 am to 3 pm September 8th in the Allan Markin Room in Lloydminster and from 9 am to 3 pm, upstairs in Alumni Hall at the Vermilion campus on September 15th. People are asked to bring their health cards if they come to a clinic.

People on campus are also asked to observe other precautions like washing or sanitizing hands often
cough and sneezing into a tissue or elbow.
