Lakeland College surpasses goal for Leading, Learning, Lakeland Campaign

Lakeland College says the five-year Leading, Learning, Lakeland Campaign was a success, surpassing its goal.

The fundraiser set out in 2016 with a goal of raising $11 million. On June 30th the campaign ended, with 1,131 supporters donating 3,077 gifts to Lakeland College. In total, over $13.3 million was raised, making this the largest fundraising campaign in the school’s history.

CEO and President of Lakeland College Dr. Alice Wainwright-Stewart says this funding will expand student success, expand resources or land at the school, empower new leaders in agriculture and grow results-driven research.

She also points to strengthened Indigenous services, mental health resources and athletics as other items helped by these donations.

The over 3,000 gifts donated were made in several ways, including by cash, land, equipment, livestock, buildings and in estate plans. Contributions also were made from events like the Rustlers Golf Tournament, Feast on the Farm and the President’s Gala.

Wainwright-Stewart adds that she is thankful for everyone who played a leading role in the transformation of the school.

She notes that even in the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, their donors, campaign leadership and employees didn’t waver in their commitment, ensuring the campaign’s success.

In the end, donors to the Leading, Learning, Lakeland Campaign came from nine provinces and three US states, and donations got up to $5 million.
