Co-operatives Week in focus at the Lloydminster Co-op

With Co-operatives Week being celebrated, local co-operative operations are in the midst of various activities to celebrate their membership and the special role that their operations serve in the community.

Director of Marketing and Community Relations at the Lloydminster Co-op Kristine Knourek says they have an online promotion for the membership and customers to win a gift card.

“We did want to mark this really important week in co-operative business with an online contest where we are offering a fun question and answer about Lloydminster and District Co-op and a chance for our membership and customers to win a gift card and then next week we are bringing back our drive-thru supper in Neilburg.”

Knourek added they have two locations in Neilburg and they’re happy to have the Co-operative Week celebrations over two weeks.

Co-operatives Week has been celebrated nationally in Canada since 1982. The history of co-operatives goes back even further to 19th century England.

“Co-operatives Week is actually celebrated all-over. It’s a way that we can shine a spotlight on why co-operatives are a different kind of business in our market. So it’s something we look forward to every year,” said Knourek.
