SHA issues Halloween health guidelines

With Halloween trick or treating activities ramping up this weekend, the SHA is sharing a list of recommended guidelines in keeping with COVID health protocols.

They are reminding that young children have not yet been vaccinated and if someone is not feeling well, to not hand out candy. Also, when handing out candy, stick to individually wrapped, store-bought treats.

The list of trick-or-treat tips includes:

  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Trick-or-treat with others from inside your household or a small group of contacts
  • Outdoors is better than indoors, but continue to wear a mask
  • Wash your hands often and before eating any treats.

The SHA maintains that the public health recommendation is that gatherings should only be with vaccinated people and to keep overall contacts low.

The current public health order requiring masking and proof of vaccination or negative testing to access certain public places remains in effect. This is the requirement for all events and venues that will be hosting Halloween activities.
