Lloydminster benefits from CCBF dollars

Several Alberta municipalities including Lloydminster are benefitting from the Canada Community-Building Fund as the Alberta government is distributing this funding to support various infrastructure projects.

Lloydminster has received one million dollars to assist in upgrades to water, wastewater and roads.

Garth Rowswell, MLA for Vermilion-Lloydminster-Wainwright notes the importance of roads and walkway safety and is grateful for the funding which he says will help complete a number of key projects in the riding.

Other municipalities to benefit include:

  • County of Vermilion – $544,997 for rehabilitating 9.66 kilometres of Township Road 460
  • Town of Vermilion – $227,000 for upgrading and resurfacing one kilometre of road
  • Municipal District of Wainwright no. 61 – $268,186 towards rehabilitating 14.5 kilometres of Terminal Road
  • Town of Wainwright – $680,000 towards rehabilitating 1.75 kilometres of road and 1.15 kilometres of sidewalks
  • Chauvin – $50,000 towards replacing 500 metres of sidewalks and curbs on Kings Street
  • Irma – $149,874 for upgrading water, wastewater and road infrastructure on Main Street.

The Alberta government is also investing in other area communities through the Municipal Sustainability Initiative which can also provide funding for recreation and sporting facilities.

Municipalities benefitting under this program include:

  • Marwayne – $12,000 allocated towards upgrades at a bulk water station
  • Irma – $710,290 towards replacing the water and wastewater lines along 50th Street.

Rowswell welcomes these improvements and notes the importance the Alberta government places on providing proper water and wastewater management to communities.
