Suspicious vehicle, sawed off shotgun and charges, Vermilion RCMP

Three Lloydminsterites are among six people who have been charged following a police investigation in Vermilion.

On Wednesday January 19th, an off duty RCMP officer saw a white pick up truck travelling in what they determined to be in excess of the posted speed limit on Highway 16.

On duty Vermilion RCMP were informed and the vehicle was located parked at a lounge in the town of Vermilion. A traffic stop was conducted and support was called in from Kitscoty RCMP, Vermilion Traffic Services and the Eastern Alberta District RCMP Crime Reduction Unit.

Officers say there were two women in the vehicle and they found a sawed off shotgun on the passenger seat. The duo was arrested and taken into custody.

Police determined the truck had been reported as stolen. Further investigation revealed that some people inside the lounge were also allegedly connected to this incident. Officers arrested and took them into custody.

Matthew Belly (31 years), Kristian Harper (24 years) and Shaylene Lewis (26 years) of Lloydminster, along with Fabian Littlewolfe (31 years) and Kelsi Naistus (23 years) of Onion Lake and Blake Dillon (27 years) of Edmonton are all jointly charged with alleged offences that include:

  • Possessing property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possessing property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of Prohibited Weapon.
Additional Charges

Fabian Littlewolfe is facing alleged charges for:

  • Possession of weapon while prohibited (4 counts)
  • Breach of release order (3 counts)
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Drive while Prohibited

Blake Dillon for alleged:

  • Possession of weapon while prohibited

Kelsi Naistus for alleged:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Breach of release order

Matthew Belly for alleged:

  • Possession of weapon while prohibited

Both Matthew Belly and Kelsi Naistus were also detained on warrants for their arrest at the time, according to police.

Kelsi Naistus, Shaylene Lewis and Kristian Harper were released with conditions and are to re-appear in Vermilion Provincial Court on March 21st.

Following a judicial hearing Matthew Belly, Fabian Littlewolfe and Blake Dillon were remanded in custody awaiting a bail determination in Vegreville Provincial Court January 24th.

Police say as this matter is now before the court no additional details will be released.
