Vegreville RCMP are advising of multiple collisions on Hwy 16 in their area.
They say one incident in particular involves at least 3 semis and this has snarled traffic in the westbound lane.
They are advising that weather conditions are poor and visibility is reduced as strong winds continue to impact driving conditions. They indicate their preference is that motorists stay off the roads.
The Alberta 511 app shows that roads are covered in snow and ice from Innisfree to Fort Saskatchewan.

Police say that tow trucks are attempting to get on scene and they anticipate it will take several hours to clear the roads.
They are also not ruling out closing off the westbound lane of Hwy 16 completely.
