Two charged in murder case in Prince Albert

Two people have been chargedĀ in a Prince Albert murder case.

Following a lengthy investigation, the RCMP Major Crime Unit North and Prince Albert Police Service have charged 27-year-old, Braidy Chase Vermette, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan with First Degree Murder in the death of Troy Cecil Napope.

In late February, 29-year-old, Skylar Patrick Bird, also of Prince Albert, was first charged with one count of arson and one count of forcible confinement in relation to theĀ victim’s death. Further investigation resulted in aĀ charge of first degree murder, which will replace the other 2 initial charges laid on February 25th, 2016.

Napope had been subject of a missing persons case since June of 2015, when he was first reported missing from Prince Albert by his family. The investigation has revealed the incident occurredĀ May 28th, 2015, which is consistent with the timeline given by Napope’s friends.

Investigators can confirm that Braidy Vermette, Skylar Bird, and Troy Napope wereĀ known to each other. Both Vermette and Bird appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court this week.Ā Police do not believe any others played a role in Napope’s death.
