Prep for Rogers Hometown Hockey taking shape at Servus

The parking lot at Servus Sports Centre is being prepped to host Rogers Hometown Hockey this weekend in the Border City.

With a couple sleeps to go, Dean Stark GM with Lloydminster Minor Hockey Association says they are going at it very hard. He urges people to get their tickets for Saturday, Sunday or the telecast on Monday March 21st.

“The activities here at the Servus Sports Centre parking lot, they are going to be in the south east corner. Those activities will happen 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. And then the telecast is going to be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Monday. You do need a ticket to get into the event. The tickets are free.”

Stark says they are still looking for volunteers and while their membership is pitching in, anyone from the community can help.

“We are running a barbeque. They have asked us if we would be able to run a barbeque just to have some food onsite for people. So LMHA has taken that on. You don’t have to be a member. If you would like to help out, just give our office a call. We can be reached at 780-872-0525.”

Stark says more information including the volunteer sign-up sheet can be found on the Lloydminster Minor Hockey Association website.

Also over the weekend, there will be a U11 -U13 hockey tournament indoors at Servus for city teams. Stark says Rogers Hometown Hockey will be involved with the game on Saturday night.

“The 8 o’clock game is going to be a match between one of the Lloydminster teams and Onion Lake. There will be an 8 p.m. ceremonial puck drop with Rogers Hometown Hockey people in attendance, as well as myself and a delegate from Onion Lake.”

More information is also available at the  Rogers Hometown Hockey  website.
