MMIW advocates on cross country trek arrive in Lloydminster Monday

A North Battleford woman is walking across Canada to raise awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.

On February 18th, her birthday, Krista Fox left from Victoria B.C. She says that date also would have been her grandson’s 16th birthday, but he was killed.

Accompanying her on this journey are a few other people who have also lost family members. The group aims to reach St. John’s, Newfoundland before Christmas.

The MMIW advocates will arrive in Lloydminster tomorrow afternoon Monday March 28th. At 4 p.m., they will be welcomed by Treaty Six community supporters at the Beretta Pipeline Construction parking lot in Blackfoot. From there they will complete the trek to City Hall where a cultural presentation and greeting is planned. The community is invited to attend.
