Proclamation passed for CPCA Finals and Lloyd Ex Fair Week

Proclamations for the New Lloydminster Nissan CPCA Finals Week and Lloyd Ex Fair Week have been approved by Council for August 15th – 21st and July 10th – 16th, respectively.

The City’s proclamation policy which requires requests to be submitted before October of the prior year saw action on these two matters at Monday’s sitting.

Mayor Gerald Aalbers explains the policy which took effect in 2018 has streamlined the application process.

“As mayor, I sat down with Administration and I asked them to consider looking at something that was more meaningful for our community and for our residents. And over that time, we have seen a decrease in the number of proclamations, but I think an increase in requests of myself to attend and bring greetings and to help promote different events.”

Aalbers indicates that Council welcomes opportunities to be a part of community events.

“It’s really great to have that ability to be out and help recognize a special day, a special time with local residents and help support some great charities without signing an actual proclamation.

Administration made changes to reflect proclamations as the highest standard of recognition from Council, states the City’s website.

More information for requests for mayor and council can be found on the City’s website.
