Residential street sweeping begins Monday

Another sure sign of spring is when city crews begin clearing debris and dust from roads, boulevards and major pathways. Officials add this work helps keep the streets clean and helps reduce debris entering stormwater collection systems.

Lloydminster City crews will begin cleaning the downtown and main routes before switching to residential areas on Monday, May 2nd.

Residential street sweeping will follow the city’s curbside collection zoning, which is available at Lloydminster.ca/curbside. Sweeping will begin in the green zone, followed by orange, pink, and yellow, before finishing blue, according to officials.

The City is asking residents to not park on the street when sweepers are scheduled to be in their area. Signs will be posted in neighbourhoods at least 36-hours before sweeping. If signs remain posted into the weekend, residents are permitted to park their vehicles on the street; however, vehicles must be removed the following Monday to allow street sweeping operations to continue.

Also officials ask that residents set out waste and organics carts after 7 p.m. the day before pick up and have them removed by 7 p.m. the same day of the pickup.

Weather permitting, residential street sweeping will be done between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., Monday to Thursday, before moving to other areas for the remainder of the night. Weekly street sweeping will wrap up Friday at 6 a.m. to allow equipment maintenance before resuming the next Monday, says the City.

Information on the progress updates can be found on the City of Lloydminster website. Residents with questions may call 780-874-3700.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution around street sweepers and maintain a safe distance of eight metres from all equipment.
