Taking the positives to Pride Week

Organizers are laying out the road map ahead of this year’s Pride Week Walk and other activities.

Chair of the LGBTQ+ Society of Lloydminster Jenson Brown is reflecting on how much has been achieved since the first Pride Week was observed in the Border City in 2017.

“Every year it is amazing to me how much further we get in terms of being able to make wonderful partnerships, find amazing sponsorship, being able to make connections with community members as well as businesses, organizations and the city itself.”

Other positives include having their non-profit listed on the city’s community supports directory.

The week runs from June 5-11th beginning with the Pride Walk from Cenovus carpark to the Synergy building, then back to Cenovus where they will host a return of Pride in the Park.

“We are kicking off Pride Week with the wonderful sponsorship of both Synergy and Cenovus Energy as our primary sponsors for our Lloyd Pride Walk and our Lloyd Pride in the Park. Pride in the Park is returning this year and also our Pride Week welcome kickoff with falgraising at Synergy as well and that’s all on Sunday.”

Tuesday will be family movie night with the showing of  ‘Turning Red’ at Grace United Church from 6:30 p.m., Wednesday will be Drag Bingo at Sticks, Thursday will be Pride Prom at Station 51, Friday is a group barbecue and Saturday Pride Week wraps with Slay The Night Pride show at the Gold Horse Casino.

Brown says they will be having an announcement on what they are planning for Monday June 6th.
