City ending commissioner for oaths services

The city of Lloydminster is to discontinue providing commissioner for oaths services at the end of business day on June 10th.

Authorities say they have considered what obtains provincially and note that most Alberta municipalities do not provide such service while in Saskatchewan some municipalities provide a fee-based service.

The city’s legislative services department has provided commissioner for oath free of charge to residents since 2016 and the number of commissioned documents has increased by 200 per cent, according to officials.

However, officials say that the city does not want to compete against the already-established commissioner for oaths providers in Lloydminster and will end the service.
