Severe t-storm warning issued for M.D. of Wainwright also t-storm watch for Lloydminster

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the M.D. of Wainwright and area.

Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • M.D. of Provost near Provost and Hayter
  • M.D. of Wainwright near Chauvin Dillberry Lake and Roros

At 10:23 a.m. MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, nickel to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain.

This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Chauvin to Denzil and is moving northeast at 90 km/h.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Thunderstorms will continue to develop this morning. Some of these thunderstorms may be capable of producing heavy rain, strong winds and large hail.
