SGI funds flashing lights at intersection

Some SGI dollars are allowing Lloydminster residents to get an extra stride for pedestrian safety.

While the city says a decision is still pending on which intersection will see the new flashing lights for the crosswalk, a total of $14,409 courtesy of the Saskatchewan auto insurer will go to fund the safety effort.

The Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon or RRFB will be similar to others previously installed from last year’s grant.

Those lights were installed at the intersections of Highway 17 or 50 Avenue and 41 Street, 62 Avenue  or College Drive and 43 Street, and as well over at 57C Avenue and 21 Street.

Through the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund grants of $1.34 million were disbursed for 85 new projects across Saskatchewan, says SGI.
