Flashing lights being installed at two more pedestrian crossings

Two intersections in Lloydminster will be getting flashing lights to give residents an extra stride for pedestrian safety.

A total of $14,409 courtesy of the Saskatchewan Provincial Traffic Safety Fund will be supplemented with $5,970 from the Photo Radar Reserve to fund the safety effort costing $20,379.

The Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon or RRFB is similar to others previously installed last year.

City planners say the lights will be fitted at Highway 17 or 50 Avenue and 33 Street. As well, the safety upgrade will illuminate the junction of 47A Avenue and 14 Street.

Council made the determination at Monday’s session.
