Telus spending $3 million in Lloydminster in 2022

The Telus investment upgrade in Lloydminster this year is $3 million, say officials with the telecom provider.

This as Telus contractors were busy in the fall and into spring laying the groundwork to install fibre optic connectivity across the city.

Mayor Gerald Aalbers notes the excitement of the city, residents and the business sector as the company deploys upgrades like its fibre optic infrastructure saying,”In 2020 and 2021 business satisfaction surveys, 69 per cent and 75 per cent of businesses, respectively, were satisfied with the Internet services provided in our community. The arrival of Telus’s fibre optics in Lloydminster can only improve that figure and help cement our position as one of Western Canada’s most attractive communities to do business and live.”

Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS says, “Through our investment, we are supporting the social and economic vibrancy of Albertans and ensuring that every member of our society has access to technology.”

The investment is part of the $17 billion being spent in operations and network infrastructure by the company across Alberta to 2026.
