King of Killers being filmed in Saskatchewan

It’s the first major production to be filmed in Saskatchewan in 2022 says Creative Saskatchewan. This as the tv series King of Killers will be using the John Hopkins Regina Soundstage for at least one year.

Creative Saskatchewan estimates more than $20,000,000 will be spent on labour, goods, and services utilizing about 90 production days and 120 post-production days.

The production is receiving more than $8 million from the Creative Saskatchewan Feature Film and Television Production Grant that was increased by the provincial government in this year’s budget.

A release from the Culture ministry notes the funding surpasses the current threshold of $5 million, but is allowed if it means securing a project with significant impact to the local economy.

“We anticipate hiring over 100 crew members and 18 performers from Saskatchewan,” says Anand Ramayya, Producer with Saskatchewan-based Karma Film Inc.

Another aspect of the production is the use of a virtual LED-wall which is a large screen that displays digital content. Officials say the wall will provide new, full-time employment for up to 20 people to operate and maintain. Also, the producers will make the virtual wall available for rent by other production companies.
