Hwy 17 rollover leaves one man dead

A 71-year-old man who was driving a truck has died following a rollover on Highway 17 about two-miles south of the Sask River bridge.

The fatality occurred on Aug. 22 and EMS declared the man deceased prior to the arrival of the RCMP.

Maidstone RCMP received a report of the vehicle roll over near the bridge in the early evening. A 63-year-old male passenger was taken to hospital by EMS to be treated for his injuries.

Both individuals were from the Onion Lake First Nation. Onion Lake RCMP, a collision analyst, and the Saskatchewan coroner’s service also attended the scene.

The cause is still being investigated, according to Maidstone RCMP.
