Test of Alert Ready system on Wednesday Nov. 16

A test of the SaskAlert system and also Alberta Alert is planned for about 1:55 p.m. CST and MST respectively on Wednesday Nov. 16, as part of national alert system testing.

The alert will appear on television, radio, compatible mobile devices and the SaskAlert app.

Lloydminster residents on the Alberta side and those on the Saskatchewan side will get the alerts according to the time in their time zones. There is also a possibility of getting an additional alert from the neighboring province’s test – this depends on the resident’s mobile service provider and the closest cell tower, say officials with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.

“SaskAlert is tested twice a year to strengthen public safety in an actual emergency,” says Marlo Pritchard president and fire commissioner with SPSA.

Officials encourage residents to check their device compatibility on their mobile service provider’s website.
